Roasting Levels

Light Roast

- Light brown in color
-no oils on surface
-highest caffeine content
-Origin flavors are strongest
-lightest body (viscosity)
Also known as:
Light City Roast, New England Roast, or Cinnamon Roast

Medium Roast

- Brown in color
-slight taste from roasting process
-medium caffeine content
-balanced flavors
-medium body (viscosity)
Also known as:
American Roast, Breakfast Roast, or City Roast

Dark Roast

- Dark brown or Black in color
-oils drawn to surface
-lowest caffeine content
-Origin flavors are almost completely roasted out causing a bold and smoky taste
-heaviest body (viscosity)
Also known as:
French Roast, Continental Roast, Espresso Roast and more

How to Grind your Beans

How fine you grind your beans depends on how you plan on brewing your coffee.

French Press calls for a course/chunky grind

A Chemex calls for medium-course grind

An Aeropress or Siphon Brewer calls for a medium grind

A Pour over Dripper calls for a medium-fine grind

Espresso machines and Mocha Pots calls for a fine grind

Americano

1 ounce shot of espresso with 3 ounces of hot water poured over it.
